Wine Country Marathon!

After months and months of preparation (including running in the freakishly hot weather), the Wine Country Marathon is finally here! John and I packed up and headed to Healdsburg, California with our friends Julia and Cecil. John and Julia were the fearless runners while Cecil and I were the cheering committee.

Hanging at Medlock Ames

We stayed in the incredibly cute town of Healdsburg at the Best Western. It was the nicest Best Western I've ever stayed in. They were overbooked so they upgraded us to the Tuscany rooms - very snazzy!

The morning of the race - big smiles from our marathoners!

John the rockstar coming across the finish line!

5ish hours later (and in 96 degree weather - training in Texas did help!)..

Overlooking one of the Passalaqua vineyards - so beautiful!

For our last night, we headed back to San Francisco so we wouldn't have to fight too much traffic the following morning. We ate dinner down on the Fisherman's Wharf and I had my first cable car experience. It was pretty cool but I'm not going to lie - I like having my own car to drive!

It was a much needed vacation and so much fun. I'm ready to sign John and Julia up for the Wine Country marathon next year. They may have other thoughts on that. :)
