Hey What Is This Thing?!?

The other day, I sat and watched Austin play with his big ole belly. He is definitely his father's son and got one of the Rosenbaum men trademark features - the magical expanding tummy. After he eats, Austin's stomach expands to great proportions. And then he'll take a nap and it disappears. John's is also the same - it's truly amazing to see! :)

So I was entertained watching Austin trying to figure out how this big tummy appeared. He spent a good 20 minutes playing with it. After watching Austin for a couple of minutes, Addie decided she wanted to join in the fun too. (On a side note, we do clothe our children. They just happen to be in that transition time between dinner and bed time).

Addie's Nap

The other day we went in to wake Addie up from her nap. We removed her front bumper a while back because it provided something for her crawl on (which would help her in the quest to get out of her crib). However, since we removed the bumper, she can now hang her leg out. How this is comfortable I have no idea but hey - to each her own!

The Difference Between Boys and Girls

Watching our kids grow, John and I get to see just how truly different boys and girls are. During snack time, Addie takes her Cheerios one by one and neatly places them into her mouth. Austin approaches it in true boy fashion. He takes a handful of Cheerios, shovels them all into his mouth, chews them, dribbles 50% of them back onto his bib, swallows 25% of them. What happens to the other 25%? Those inevitably end up on my sweatpants (hence the reason I wear my sweats or workout pants everyday!)

Notice the slobbery Cheerios that cover his bib....

And Addie is squeaky clean!

Austin's First Black Eye

So this post is just to document Austin's first (and hopefully last) black eye. He got into a brawl with the leg of a coffee table at John's parent's house. This is the tail end of his black eye - it did look a lot worse!

We did have to sit him down and have the talk about not getting into fights. Hopefully he'll remember not to take on furniture in the future!

Getting a Pay Raise!!

This is a pretty exciting time in our lives - John and I recently just got a pay raise. How - you may ask. We have officially switched the twins from formula to whole milk (imagine the choir from Sister Act 2 breaking into "Oh Happy Day.")  If you've ever had to buy formula, you know how pricey it is compared to a gallon of milk!

Even though they aren't one yet, our pediatrician said it was ok. So far Austin and Addie seem to love it. Even though whole milk isn't my cup of tea, it tastes a million times better than formula!!

Cheers to you milk cows!

We're 11 Months Old!!

11 months...with the twins rapidly approaching their first birthday, I find myself getting a little more emotional. Austin and Addie have now celebrated their first Valentines, St. Patrick's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. In about a month, we'll start with their 2nds of each holiday. How time has flown this past year! It's been so fun seeing each new trick and milestone but man, I wish that it wouldn't have gone by so fast.

This past month, we have watched our sweet little twins grow from crawling babies to toddlers! Well, "toddlers" might be a strong word. They each can walk about 10 steps or so before gravity overtakes them but each day they are getting better and better. Austin is still ok crawling sometimes because it gets him wherever fast but Addie is definitely a walker! It's so awesome to watch them stand up and attempt to get somewhere. I would say 9 times out of 10 their stroll ends in a crash but they are so eager to get right back up and try again.

As far as eating, Austin and Addie have moved into the breakfast, lunch and dinner (which also only means 3 bottles - yay!!!). They drink between 24-28 ounces of formula per day and eat almost everything we put in front of them. The A-Team prefers to feed themselves and isn't so excited about us spoon feeding them anything. So we've had to get creative in feeding them things like yogurt. John had the brilliant idea of dipping french toast into yogurt - definitely a twin fave! Cheerios are their favorite snack. I can shake the can and they come running - something I find hilarious so something I do often!

Austin and Addie are officially in the 2 nap a day club. They sleep about an hour in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. This has made working from home a little more difficult but I am blessed that they entertain each other. Bedtime is still around 7:00 - 7:15 and they sleep until 6:45 or 7:00. Sometimes if we're really lucky, they will go until 7:15. :)

Austin and Addie have always hung out together and sometimes "played." Recently though, I have noticed that they really do entertain each other. The other day, I watched them playing peek a boo. Addie was standing outside of their tent doing squats so she could look through the opening to see Austin. Every time she bent down, Austin would die laughing. Then she'd pop back up to hide. This afternoon, I watched them on the monitor as they stood at the end of their cribs chatting and laughing it up together. They like to babble back and forth and often have yelling contests to see who is louder, which always ends in giggles. I think that twin bond is starting to show more and more and it truly melts my heart. I couldn't love these two anymore!

Playing music together....

My future drummers...

Will you be my sister forever?

Partners in crime...

You are my crazy, silly boy who is so quick to smile and laugh. I LOVE the sound of your laughter. I have no idea how much you weigh but I know you are definitely getting heavier and heavier. You like to eat and love to make a mess when you do! Most of the time when you are done eating, we have do clean your hands, face, neck, hair, legs, feet, the dogs and anything else that's around you.  Good thing you like bath time!

This past month you have definitely chatted more and can say dada, mama (only occasionally), baba and most recently, dog. Well, it's more like dah but you say it anytime Jackson and Stellar come around. You make a lot of other noises and squeaks too but I have no idea how to spell them all out!

You still have 8 chompers with a molar that refuses to come out. You like to grind your teeth a lot, which thoroughly grosses me out. I hope you grow out of that quickly!! And the astronomical amounts of drool continue...another thing I keep waiting for you to outgrow!

You are definitely becoming a walking champ! You make us laugh because when you walk, you hold your arms out like Frankenstein. I know you need some help balancing that big ole belly. You split your time about 50/50 between crawling and walking.

My little princess. You are becoming a diva. You are quick to let us know when something isn't to your liking. However, you flash those big, beautiful blues at us and we have a hard time not giving you the world! You still have your adventurous spirit and like to explore...all with hair brush in hand of course (no one would be able to actually tell that you use your hair brush though)! I'm not sure on your weight either but I do know you are still pretty pint-sized (and perfect)!

You love to walk and have started trying this whole running thing. Or maybe you are just tripping and trying to play it off by running - a move we've all used before. You walk everywhere and rarely crawl. One of my absolute favorite things is when you walk across the room and jump into my arms. I LOVE that.

You are up to 4 teeth now, with number 5 breaking through. So this means that you like to chew on pretty much anything and everything - whether it's a baby toy or not! You take the teething pretty well except you want to be held more - something I don't mind at all.

You like to chat it up - definitely a girl! You can say dada, mama (even mommy a couple of times), baba, gaga and dog. You babble a lot, regardless of if anyone is talking back to you or not. I think you like the sound of your own voice. You have increased your giggling too - it's such a sweet little sound. Feel free to do it as much as you want!!

Getting ready to run!

Striking a pose...

I can't believe that their first year is coming to an end and the next age blog post you will see will be that they are one year old!! Looking back over the past 11 months, it never ceases to amaze me how much our lives have changed. But I cannot even imagine being anywhere but where I am now.  I've given up regularly putting on makeup, cooking elaborate dinners, wearing anything but workout pants and the ability to go on huge vacations or even just take off for the weekend. But I have traded all of that in for so much joy and love, I wouldn't ever want to go back!!

CLI Frisco

I would like to take a moment to do two things...

1. Apologize to the kids and the parents of the Grayhawk Frisco neighborhood for my recent Tweet and Facebook post

Who would do such a thing?! Crazy kids!! http://yfrog.com/h03hmakj

Facebook Picture

2. Thank Stacy Francis and John Wesloski for keeping me honest!!!

I performed a little CLI (Christmas Light Investigation) on my wires that I thought were cut by some neighborhood kids. Result: I was wrong. The wires were gnawed, not cut. After briefly being mad at the Squirrels and Rabbits of Frisco, I found that I couldn't stay angry with those furry little guys. :)

First photo is side by side. Wire on the left is the one from the yard. Wire on the right is the one from my CLI cut using a 2001 Craftsman Red Handled Wire Cutter.

The Second photo is the two sets of wires. Top is from the yard. Bottom is from my “lab.”

I saw a rabbit in my yard this morning... He is a suspect!!! I got his photo

Just wanted to share!!!

Snow Day 2011!

I have been patiently waiting for the token snow day that Dallas has once a year (although last year we had three)! Today is my day!! Outside it's a beautiful white wonderland. Since Austin and Addie were just hours old during the last snowstorm, I'm sure they don't remember how fun it is.

A pic from the last snowstorm:

John and I bundled them up and headed out to our front yard for some fun in the snow!

Austin jumped right in to play:

Austin trying to dump snow on Addie:

Addie loved the snow!

She loved it so much that she wanted to eat it. I guess she found out quickly just how cold it really is!

A picture of my cute little snow babies.

Thank you God for giving us snow today. The Rosies enjoyed it!!

So sad....

We told Austin that the Aggies lost last night. He's very sad. :( We decided not to tell him that the Aggies played horribly in the 2nd half. He was already too broken up.

Maybe next year!

It's Cotton Bowl Time!!

Austin and Addie were very excited to watch their Aggies take on the LSU Tigers in the 2011 Cotton Bowl. Well - they watched about 10 minutes before they went to bed. But they can't wait to hear the results in the morning!!! Gig 'em Aggies!

Brushing up on their Aggie traditions before heading off to bed!

Here Comes Austin!!

We've had a hard time catching Austin and his walking skills. Most of the time he sees the video camera and promptly quits performing. But we caught him today!
